Onward and Upward

Yesterday I added my sidebar link from this blog to another site. I'm part of a new community called Wedfog where wedding photographers and hopefully soon brides will come together to have questions answered and connect with one another. Below is one of my favorite shots in my gallery profile, though I titled it something else today it feels like "Onward and upward" which was my personal motto throughout much of college, always trying to reach more heights of success.

The shot is one of my favorites from recent weddings and I also had it printed on metallic paper as a portfolio image to show clients.

The name wedfog is a take off of Wed(for wedding) FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions), which is what the letters kind of look like. Though I've been in the business so long that I first read it as Wed FOG where FOG is father of the groom. So many acronyms.

My New Ad is Out

My new ad is out today. In the Morgan Hill Times, The Gilroy Dispatch, the Hollister Free Lance, and of course, the paper I work for, The Weekend Pinnacle.

If you have a copy of any, it's in the Bridal tab, on the inside back cover. It's this ad in color, half page:

This Just In (for the Bridal Fair)

Yesterday, I picked up two of these elegant certificates from the printing company. There will be two of these given out at the Hollister Bridal Tour next Saturday, Feb. 24, as part of the prizes given to brides attending.

Each certificate will allow the bearer to have a free engagement session with high resolution images on CD. The winner can chose their location, anywhere in Hollister, Gilroy or San Juan Bautista.

For those of you that will be making it to the show, my table will be in Paine's Restaurant on East Street. I'd love the chance to meet anyone who is engaged, or who even may be dreaming of a engagement someday.

New business cards are coming

I just saw the prototype of my business card today. They are designed to match the look and feel of my website, and will be ready in a few days (will put up a photo of the fully designed, ready to be distributed ones when I have them):
The couple featured on it, Gerardo and Chauntel, were so excited when I first put this picture of them up on my website. Chauntel said she told everyone and that now they were famous.

One photographer friend told me that the above shot reminded her in a cool way of Cinderella. She did look like a fairy princess, but instead of mice to help her she had beautiful flower girls (who couldn't resist twirling in their dresses as we waited for the limo to arrive):

and a beautiful female ring bearer who carried the rings in this unique nest:

Great Wedding Network (New Advertising)

I'm pleased to announce that Not So Still Life Photography recently aquired the number two position in the premier listings of the California Photography section.

They only allow one photo for the listing, so I gave it some thought and picked out one that I thought was fun, spontaneous and romantic:
